The KHV or Koi Herpes Virus is a deadly virus which has just emerged from the Koi industry. The first outbreak happened in Israel around 1998 and 1999. Since then, outbreaks have occurred throughout the globe, especially in places like Europe, United States and Asia.
Just like most of the Herpes type of viruses all throughout the world, the KHV is believed to remain with the infected fish for life. The fish exposed to the disease at a certain point are instantly considered as carriers! The mortality rate for the fish that has been exposed to this kind of virus would range from 60 to 80 percent.
The fact of the matter is that these fish are very susceptible to the virus. In order to prevent your fish from contracting the virus, make sure that they never get exposed to it. Knowing the virus will slim the chances of making your fish catch the virus.

A little information has been gathered about the virus's profile since its outbreak in 1998, and knowing the important facts about the virus will help you keep your pond in good health. Once the fish has been exposed to the disease, it will always be a carrier for the rest of its life. Preventative measures of the spreading of the KHV:
If your fish contracts the disease, the only way to make sure that you don't infect any other fish is by depopulation. This process is the elimination of your entire fish population. It may seem cruel, it's truly the best way to make sure that no other fish will ever catch the virus.
After you buy your fish, quarantine it and separate it from your current population in a period not less than 15 days. With the knowledge of the exact temperature level to activate the disease (around 74 degrees Fahrenheit), this will allow you to expose your Koi to the right conditions for the virus to show itself. Those fish that live in these kind of conditions for this given period and don't develop any symptoms means that they have less chances of getting infected.
Total isolation comes with quarantining, and you should not allow anything to come into contact with your infected fish, especially the items that may come into contact with the current population. Use separate water, tools and food. Ensure that those tools you have used for your quarantined pets stay in the area in which they are used always.

Maybe it’s rejoicing time again for the home-loan borrowers. Rates of interest for 30-year mortgages have fallen to around 4.75%, indicating that rates are indeed falling. According to the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), home lending could reach $2.78 trillion for 2009, which would be the fourth highest on record. All these incentives notwithstanding, other factors have to fall in place for more appreciable gains in home lending and homeownership. Industry observers say that stability in employment have to be seen before there is a real increase in overall home sales. What is expected is that the funding increase for home lending this year would only go to refinancing home loans estimated at $1.96 trillion this year while purchases would only be at $821 billion. Consequently, home sales are actually expected to decline by 2.5 percent to 4.8 million units, says the MBA.

Where chicken predators are common, a chicken ark allows them to have new grazing, but keeps them safe as well.
The chicken ark is designed to be moved around, giving chickens new ground to forage and browse on, but as the run is enclosed, it keeps them safe. There is a sheltered night time roosting area and protected nesting boxes. The chickens are safe, even if an animal tried to dig under the run.
Let the chickens roam when you can keep an eye on them and put them in the run for protection when you fo out.
The bigger, taller chicken arks have a roosting and nesting space in the pointed part of the triangular shaped ark, with the run below in the wider part. The run, while still open, gets shade and protection from the rosting area above.
The simpler design of chicken ark has a triangulat shaped roosting and nesting space at one end with a run attached. This chicken ark design means the run is open to the elements – so the chickens get sun wind and rain, just like the free range outdoors. Your eggs will be as nutritious as free range, but your chickens will be kept safe.
