While it can be much simpler to learn to surf using a fun board, a fish will give you greater ease of movement.

The best choice for a casual surfer is most likely a long board. They make it really easy to learn and get the casual surfer up to speed quickly. The biggest drawback to buying a long board is their price. You will usually pay more for a long board than any other type of board.
