The continuing development of digital camera technology offers near limitless choices for the professional and amateur alike when looking to achieve the best photographs possible. There is a wide array of camera options ranging from compact digital cameras to large DSLRs. Each type of camera available has pros and cons associated with it, so shopping for the right camera can be confusing. Nevertheless, it will still boil down to the type and specifications that each person is looking for.

With any digital camera, there will be an assortment of features and utility levels which will make a good camera well above a thousand dollars. The current top digital camera brands are Canon, Sony and Nikon.

Probably the most essential parts of a digital camera are the lens, viewfinder and the LCD screen. Proper cleaning and care of these parts will prolong the use of your camera. These sensitive components such as a camera LCD screen should never be bumped or have a battery put against it inside the camera case; you don’t want to have to pay for a camera LCD screen repair Purchasing some good quality lens cleaning items such as a brush or blower and lens cloth and cleaning solution can be important. A lens blower can help remove dust and dirt, while a cleaning solution and cloth can remove debris that the blower cannot. Another important reminder is to protect the cameras lens by always putting on the lens cover when the camera is not in use.

Be sure to store your digital camera properly when not in use. Always store your digital camera in a cool, dry space to avoid extreme tempertures and condensation. Always keep the camera out of the sun and from cold temperature. Digital camera batteries should also be taken out when the camera is not in use. Also keep in mind that magnets of any kind should also be kept away from the camera.

Besides just the camera itself, you should also remember to take care of your accessories such as memory cards. These are small accessories, so you should take care to not lose or damage them. Never remove the memory card while transfering images to your computer. Memory cards should be stored in the camera or in a card case to avoid damage to them and avoid losing them.

Taking care of your most prized digital camera is imperative to make certain that they will last for a very long time. Even if you purchase the most reliable brand, which in my opinion is Canon, there is still no guarantee that your camera won’t have problems due to the normal wear and tear of usage. As much as possible, to avoid having to find a Canon digital camera repair shop you need to protect it from impact damage, water exposure, sand and dust and extreme tempertures.

If you notice any damage or malfunction to any part then it is important to find someone who can affordably provide you with reliable camera repair services. Keep in mind that a good digital camera is not cheap, and it pays off in the long run to take good care of it.

Many people have asked about repairing their front covers/flaps on their Canon PowerShot SD series cameras, so I’ve written up some instructions. Our lens barrier repair kit is a little tricky to replace on Canon SD series cameras but definately not impossible for you to do yourself. All you need is some patience, a steady hand and a small tipped screwdriver. We use dental picks, they work great!

To get things started, turn on the camera to extend the lens and then open the battery door and remove the battery so that the lens stays out. This allows you to easily work on the lens barrier assembly.

First the part we need is the ‘barrel drive ring’, it’s the ring with the small piece that sticks down into the lens. Some cameras don’t have one, so if there isn’t one in your kit then your camera doesn’t need it. Be certain that it will rotate slightly after installation, otherwise it is probably not installed properly and can cause the lens to get jammed.

Next are the springs and flaps. There is a small little tab that holds the spring in place when you put it on the ‘flap’ or ‘barrier plate’ as they are actually called. They are TINY, they are hard to hold and if you drop it… lets just say DON’T drop it on the carpet, ok? If you do lose some springs, we have them available on their own in our store for you to purchase.

Carefully put the cover or ‘flap’ in the hole with the spring pointing towards the post where the other end will connect, and then with something with a tiny and pointy tip (we use dental picks!) gently grab the loop of the spring and stick it on its post.

Do this with the flaps in the open position, they will stay in place if you get them seated properly. If everything pops off, just start again. Try not to stretch out the springs, they need to remain tight for the assembly to work properly.

Then gently put on the barrier cover, it’s a flat plastic ring. There are tabs on the barrier cover, they match up with little slots on the lens and it locks into place. Be gentle, don’t force anything too hard or you will break it and the parts will not hold it place.

Now it’s time to test your skills! Put in the battery (cross your fingers) and press the power button! Is it working? Did it go flying across the room with a cute little *SPROING!* and maybe all the parts scattered all over the place? Yeah I hope not, but I’ve been there myself so you’re not alone.

Once it’s working nicely …you’re almost done with your first digital camera repair!

Next put the dual sided tape on the barrier cover. CAUTION: Make sure to take the tape off of the backing paper but DON’T remove the paper that matches the shape of the tape on the other side!! Removing the small paper part will cause the tape to fold up on itself and stick together. Bye bye tape!

The tabs of the tape fold over the edges, if they stick out the lens cover will not fit properly and can jam up the lens. The tape lines up with one tab at about the 11 o’clock position, then fold the tabs over and press them in so they don’t stick out.

Now put on your chrome or black lens cap, line up the cap with the small indentation at the bottom, you’ll see how it goes on easily.

Fire up the camera again and admire your handywork! Congratulations you now know more about digital camera repair than the Geek Squad, and they told you it would be two hundred dollars and take 3-4 weeks to repair. Whatever Geek Squad… Whatever.

Hmm… I think I’m seeing the beginning of something big here; affordable do it yourself Canon digital camera repair

When thinking of purchasing a digital camera it is easy to become confused when faced with the myriad choices available on the market today. What kinds of photos are you hoping to take?

Once you have decided to move to the digital era you want to decide on which camera will suit your particular needs. Today, you can choose from many types of cameras as well as name brands.

Some of the cameras include the AF SLR Series, Digital Compacts, Film Compacts, Direct Vision, and so forth. You can purchase cameras today with camcorders built-in for small movie projects, or cameras that include a phone. What more could you ask for in a camera?

At a formal time we discussed film and digital compact cameras, as well as the AF SLR series, today we are going to discuss the Direct Vision Cams along with a few other models. If you are off to the amateur division photography scene then you may want to look at the line of direct vision cameras offered by Leica. Few of these direct vision action takers offer high quality pictures while its sounds are nearly noise pollution free.

Most photographers use the 35mm camera and Rangefinders have a wonderful one that includes great features. This model or its like has a variety of features including the viewfinder, battery compartment, self-timer, rangefinder, rewind crank, rewind button, lens, PC socket, film speed dial, and so on.

The Rangefinder has a focusing mechanism which allows the photographer to measure the subject distance and take photographs that are in sharp focus. If you want to include yourself in the photo self-timers are incredibly useful for delaying when a photo is taken. If you plan on including yourself in a few photos you may want to check into this feature as there are some cameras that only allow a few seconds before a photo is taken.

Many of the direct vision cameras have hot-shoes, shutter speed dial, wind-on levers, frame counters, and shutter release buttons. Depending on your needs there are a variety of features and functions that are available.

More options include Mega-Pixel Camcorders, Large Formatting Cams, Instant Cams, Imaging Phones, and Hasselblad XPans 2, etc. If you plan on purchasing a camera phone you need to understand that the included camera is not necessarily the best for photography even though you should be able to transfer your photos to your computer. Camera phones are great when you are on the road taking photos and want to put them on your computer quickly. Bluetooth phones make it easy to transfer your photos directly to your computer.

Mega-pixel camcorders are ideal for web page creation, home movie creation and the like. The low pixels and resolution puts this camcorder out of market for publishing quality photos outside of the Internet. Regardless, it is a handy camcorder since you can use it to make movies and play them back. It’s sort of like an Ipod, yet you have a cam built in.

Instant cameras are obviously not a choice for photographers, unless you have a quickie in mind. The old Polaroid was at one time one of the most popular cameras. The camera had several models, which pro photographers could use easily, yet it took the sport out developing. This factor alone was my primary reason for using Polaroid. Today Fuji has an Instax camera which has taken the place of Polaroid.

The Hasselblad model is a 35mm cam. This camera easily switches between standard and panorama modes. Hasselblad is one of those cameras that defies history as it puts you in mind of old technology with a modern flair. Well, now we have reviewed a variety of cameras, several accessories to enhance cameras, I guess now it is time to decide which camera is best suited for your needs.

Will you want larger or smaller prints? What do you hope to do with them? Will you want high or low resolution photos? Are you looking to become a professional photographer or stay in the amateur arena?

Just having a camera is not going to get you the best pictures.  Most of us who take photos are amateurs in the art world, but with the right digital photography lessons our photography can be elevated to a new height.  Lenses are important especially when you settle on a medium you will train in.Photographers most the most part tend to specialize in one particular area of photography.  There are many types of lenses, the standard 35- 80mm, telephoto, and panoramic lenses.

Most digital cameras have a 35- 80 mm lens, even the point and shoot type. Most of the time you get a standard lens when you purchase a camera casing.  All lenses are interchangeable. You need to make sure that the diameter is the same and you can best do that if you stick with the same brand of lens as your camera.  The diameter of most lenses is the same as long as you keep to the same brand.  The 35- 80 mm lens tells you the extent of reach.  While you can take photographs several miles away with a standard lens you will not have the distinction of features in the print that you need.  The standard lens is great for close up shots, such as flowers, spider webs, people, and pets.  To gain more defined picture miles away you need a larger lens.

There are many telephoto zoom lenses in photography.  One is the 75- 300 mm lens.  While this is not as massive as other telephoto lenses you may see a professional walking around with it is a great step up for mountain and wildlife photography when your quarry is some distance away.It is best to have a stabilizer with the lens especially when you begin to move from the 35mm into something larger.Even if your hand moves a little bit, a stabilizer will help you hold the camera steady to get a clear shot. You can use accessories to help with angles and light when moving into the world of telephoto lenses.

Photography in the world of panorama is another way to take spectacular landscape photos.  The panoramic lens allows you to widen the photograph, especially with a digital camera. The panoramic lens is the best way to go rather than cutting an pasting a picture of a glacier or mountain range together in Photoshop in order to get the whole picture.  I’m sure you have seen landscapes with a panoramic view and wished you could have that option. You can use a panoramic lens that will widen the photograph even with film cameras.

All three lenses are just the icebergs on the use of lenses in photography. You will want to maximize your photo taking skills whether you are either an amateur or a budding professional photographer.A tripod will be the next piece of equipment you will want to purchase because it will help you stabilize a camera with a larger lens even more.  Tripods are pretty simple and lightweight pieces of equipment and work great for portrait photography. To produce a quality photograph, all photography mediums require moderate to top of the line camera equipment.  Photography also relies on the photographer’s skill and eye.  Lenses are just a small part of the photography world when you start to study the art.The best place to find answers if you have any questions about lenses is at your local photography shop.

Portrait photography is the most popular form of photography. Most people who know how to point and shoot a camera are all portrait photographers. However, there are of course, differences in its quality. Professional portrait photographers have certain characteristics that let them get the best out of their subjects. A portrait photo does not only mean a person’s image. Character and emotion can be displayed this way. If you want to start shooting portraits and don’t know the essential elements, fear no more because these five tips can give you a head start.

Rapport: Building rapport with your subject is the firs thing that you should learn. Interest in knowing your subjects is a plus. If you get to know your subject and they know you, your they will become more comfortable in front of the camera. When the shoot comes, you have better chances of getting the best natural expressions of the people you are photographing.

Personality: A great photo brings out the personality of the model. You will only know this if you know the person. Make sure that their personality shows in their faces. Personality usually appears when the subject is not expecting a shot, so you have to be ready to take the picture when the opportunity comes.

Lighting: Most photographers prefer natural lighting. However since you want to emphasize the person’s face and character, you should always consider using artificial lighting. It is important to make sure the light is evenly distributed, or that it satisfies the angle that you want to emphasize. Lighting can have a great effect especially if your they want a serious picture.

Background: Most portraits have light backgrounds to emphasize the subject. You can also use the environment to add more character to your subject. It is important to make sure that the colors of your background and the dress of your subject complement each other. Sometimes backgrounds become the flaw of a picture because the photographer took it for granted.

Plan: Be sure that you are ready before you go to the photo shoot. Not only that you have all the equipment that you need, but be sure that you can handle the job properly. Prepare all the necessary materials and be sure to bring a good topic for conversation so that your subject can relax while you are shooting.

Portrait photography is a really enjoyable hobby. It can also be a profitable venture as long as you take the time to perfect your craft. However, remember that you should have the heart for the job because portrait photography’s first requirement is interest.

Taking photos of people fall in to two categories.  They are either portraits or candids.

Portraits are the shots when your subjects are in poses. While candids are when your subjects are going about their business naturally.

I would like to focus on taking shots that are candid.  There is an art to this form of photography and if you follow these few steps, you will be pleased with your work.  This is from my experience as a San Diego Photographer.

First off, don’t get in their way.  Most candid shots you take of course are going to be people going about their business, but the secret to taking a great shot like that is to make sure they are unaware of the shot.

Because often, if you let them notice you, you will miss the essence of that unguarded shot.  So try hard to make sure they are unaware of the camera.

Another thing to think about is the environment or the setting. When you are going to take candid photos, the environment plays a big role. You want to capture your subject in their setting as naturally as you can with your candid shot. It’s that setting
whether is is their house, their work, or the street they are on, will tell a story about your subject’s life.  This is especially important if you are going to be taking shots as a Wedding Photographer San Diego.

A third tip to think about is to anticipate behavior. An important part to being able to take candid photos of people who are acting naturally is to know what your subject will do next in a situation.

This will be beneficial to you if you are trying to catch a particular moment because you will be ready rather than miss the shot.  Knowing how they will react and being able to capture that is all about anticipation.

Finally, always be on the lookout for those moments when a person’s emotion will be expressed.  Because after all, when taking these types of shots, that is the main thing you want to capture in these candid shots is emotion.

Take a look at what your subject is doing and think about whether or not it’s a moment that will express an emotion.  Such as an impatient expression at a stoplight.  Or a joyous expression at an event.  Every moment in time provides an opportunity to capture an emotion.  Being prepared for those moments will help you capture and tell that story in that moment of time.

Taking candid shots is definitely an art form.Especially if your goal is to tell a story with your candid shots. Following these few simple steps will help you be on the road of capturing as many storytelling moments as possible as a photographer.

4 great Tips for Making Great Digital Wedding Photography even Greater

Brides and grooms everywhere are beginning to realize the expertise of professional photographers to get the best digital wedding photography images for their special occasion. And why shouldn’t they? They would abosultely want to obtain only the best photography taken so that their photographic memories would be sealed for as long as they both live.

More and more people are now gravitating to the using of their own digital cameras to capture pictures of their weddings. One of the reasons for this is that the quality is better compared to the traditional and old fashioned film cameras. One more though, all photos from the wedding can be placed into an album for safe keeping to avoid damage and wear.

Today, people are using their computers more than ever before for communication. With computers, they can easily upload and transfer their wedding pictures and share them with family members and close friends all over the world. You do not have to rely on slow emails just to send your pictures. They are being delivered electronically and viewed the very second you upload them to your desktop computer.

This is one of the many advantages of digital photography. If photos are taken properly, you are pretty much guaranteed that you and you special person of interest will never regret having used digital photography for your wedding pictures.

Below are some of the tips to get the best digital photography for your wedding.

1. Choosing the right backgrounds.

Photos can really look awesome once they are shot with the perfect background. You can use the florals and decorations in the church and in the reception areas as a back draft for your photos. Be sure to fix some spread out festive decorations so that they will appear mostly with perfection on photographs.

Always remind the photographer to check if the view is good before taking any pictures. It does not mean that you have to stand on the same corner or place. The best photographer is able to make even the most simple of background look great on photo if it is taken in the right place and angle.

2.  Look out for any types of glass or mirrors.

Somebody wearing glasses can tilt their nose down to refrain from glare from flash. Should it be an eye-glass, outside window or champagne glasses.  One way or another, they will cause a reflection or brightness to reflect back on the camera it is included in the photographs.

To avoid this, the tilt and position of the camera can be manipulated so that it will not directly bounce off the glass. The photo can be taken sideways or downwards but never on eye level.

3. The perfection of timing.

People being photographed should not always be looking straight into the camera. And none of the people have to be smiling at the lens too.

One way to reach your goals is to photograph the moment in a photojouranlsitic manner You will see that catching persons on film when they are in their candid state is much better than having them wearing a fixed expression. Photographing those special moments in a quiet and non-distracting approach can produce great results.
4. Review each photo.

To utilize the maximimum the memory that your digital camera can handle, it is sometimes a good idea to review every photo shot taken. There might be duplication of poses or photographs that can be removed so that you can free more space for a different shot.

Taking a wide range of different photos can make an interesting photo album.

The greatest wedding photography is made even greater now with digital cameras. If there’s one thing you should remember it’s your photos on your weddings day.

If you are thinking about taking up photography as a hobby, you should think about learning more about it so you’ll get more from it. Photography is not something that you can just pick up overnight. This hobby requires that you at least familiarise yourself with it before you can really start.

For starters, there are techniques that you need to become acquainted with so that tou can get great photos. Then you should also learn about about the different types of photographic equipment. That is just as important.

If you want to make more of photography as a hobby, the simplest way to start is by picking digital photography. Why? Because it’s simply the most convenient route to achieving good results. With digital photography, no longer is the photography hobbyist limited by the rolls of film that must be carried.

Digital photography provides a way for amateur photographers to continue on their hobby until their camera’s memory is full. Today’s camera memory cards can hold hundreds of large-sized photos (compared to a roll of film’s 36 exposures).

Digital photography also offers hobbyists a way to cheaply learn about photography in general. Most digital cameras are pretty simple to use. They provide easy ways for beginner photographers to learn photo techniques bit by bit.

In digital photography, mistakes are not as costly since most digital cameras allow you to take a considerable amount of photos without having to incur the expense of film. As well, with digital cameras, it is quicker and easier to get prints from your shots. All you will need is a PC and a printer in order to get prints. It can even be easier for you to send copies online anywhere on the world.

If you want to discover more about photography, many digital photography courses are now available that would really help. With these courses, you would learn more about digital photography techniques, both as a hobby and possibly as a profession. One of the basic techniques that you will learn is how to properly shoot pictures by using the digital camera.

You can also learn how best to use your digital camera given certain lighting conditions and weather. This will greatly help improve the photos that you will be getting, now that you have a pretty good idea on how each photo can be set under ideal conditions.

Digital photography can be an amazing hobby as not only will you find out how to take stunning photographs but you’ll also learn that the world looks more vivid through a true photographic eye.

With just a cheap digital camera, photography can be an inexpensive and satisfying hobby. In the past, before the advent of digital cameras, it was very much more time consuming, expensive, and tried the patience whilst you waited for your results from the processing lab. Now you can instantly see the image you have captured. You can take another if it is not exactly what you wanted or digitally alter it on your computer.

If you need a good reason to walk out in the fresh air, like many of us, photography gives you the perfect reason.Nature Photography can be very rewarding. Once you start to look through your viewfinder, you will discover that the whole world looks different with exciting possibilities. Different lighting and aspects will make images take on different forms.

There are a number of different types of photography and they can be split into two different  catagories – Amateur, ie those just for personal use, and professional, where you are earning some income from them. eg. wedding photography. Sometimes these will not be quite so easy to differentiate when the photograph you took intending it to be a memory, turns out to be special in one way or another .

Two main areas can be created for the personal use photographs, memories – photographs of your child’s first step, bike ride etc; holiday photographs; Family parties, anniversaries etc and ‘art’ photographs – pictures (often of everyday objects) taken because they created an image which impressed you for some reason. An important part is often played by lighting in these pictures.

Once you get hooked on photography you will find that you will never want to go out without your camera. Once your camera becomes part of your regularly carried accessories, you will be able to capture anything you see that excites your imagination.

Be it a baby held in loving arms or an elderly couple sitting on a park bench, everytime you take a photograph, it is important to really look at the image and compose it so that it conveys the image you want it to and so that it looks natural. The outsides of the picture are as important as the central image, it should be well balanced and most of all sharp and focussed (unless of course you are trying to convey movement which is a whole different ball game). whilst modern Digital cameras can greatly improve standard protographs, they can also create difficulties if you are trying to be creative. If you are trying to depict speed or movement, it is often harder to do this with modern digital cameras with anti-shake, and auto focus functions.

The more you analyse the images you capture, the more satisfying it will become and the better you will get at it. This is one of the areas in life there age really does not matter. You can take really good photographys when you are nine or ninety. All you have to do is look at the world around you – then capture it through the viewfinder.

Following this Canon Powershot SX10IS review, it would justify the purchase of Canon Powershot SX10IS.

“I have found the lens to be just fine, even at max zoom. I also found that the lens is fast enough for indoor non flash photography.”

“But for the price this camera really does it all – the video is awesome and easy to use – clear, great picture and being able to use the 20X optical zoom (which you cannot hear at all when used!) is a huge plus.”

“The image stabilization is pretty good and even if you are moving (hands not stiff as well) the picture comes out great.”

“Forget the time setting up a tripod since it has built-in image stability. Forget changing lenses for the scenery shot versus the distance shot. The image quality is very good, has more mega pixels than my Rebel, and even fits in my wife’s purse.”

This is a very good camera for both beginners, intermediate and advanced users. Canon has given great features in this hybrid camera giving a 10MP and 20X optical zoom. The image stabilization is pretty good and even if you are moving (hands not stiff as well) the picture comes out great”

“The zoom made full frame shots a breeze.”

“The picture quality is better at higher ISO’s than previous models.”

“Functionally, I’m very impressed so far. This is a significant reworking of the S5, rather than a previous model lightly warmed over.”

This camera in a good investment for taking great photos.
