Christmas is now on the way and just for a laugh I thought it would be a cool idea to write down a few of the strangest things I have recieved over the holiday season.

Her mind seems to be drifting further and further away each year as the presents are getting weirder with each passing Christmas. I seem to always receive these from my Aunt who simply loves to buy everyone crazy gifts. These gifts make you feel like a kid again and are welcome over the normal socks and clothes.

Some of these xmas gifts have even been Eco gifts which I cannot say I am a personal fan of but nevertheless some of them have been really quite fun to mess around with, so without further waffling, here is the list of my favourites.

The Fighting Old Gits

The great thing about these is that whenever they are switched on you seem to get a small gathering of people each routing for one granddad over the other. Basically you get two toy granddads and once you set them down on the table or wherever they start hitting each other with canes. It was just like watching Hulk Hogan wrestle it out in twenty years time.

The wack USB chess game

Of course personally I will never play chess, I thought it was still a cool little gift as the set knew exactly when I made a wrong move

Bed Linen

Yes I received fair-trade bed linen from my mad aunt and this is the strangest of all the items received as it isn’t even a crazy gift.

Has she now lost it altogether? I am quite looking forward to seeing what present I recieve from her this holliday season. What will it be?

How about you – let me know in the comments what your weirdest christmas presents have been.

As Christmas is finally on its way I thought I would start to get into the mood by writing about some of the strangest things I have actually been given.

With each passing year the gifts just seem to get madder and madder meaning only one thing, is my aunt losing it. My Aunt is the one who does this as she always hands out crazy gifts. These gifts make you feel like a kid again and are welcome over the normal socks and clothes.

Some of these xmas gifts have even been green gifts which I cannot say I am a personal fan of but nevertheless some of them have been really quite fun to mess around with, so without further baffling, here is the list of my favourites.

Fighting Granddads

These granddads are so simple to use and even better to watch, it is amazing to see a room cheer for a certain old fogey. I looked on in amazement as I had two toy old men who whenever put near eachother started to attempt to kill one another. However I did get a bit of enjoyment out of watching two old men hit eachother with a stick, is that so wrong.

The wack USB chess game

Although personally I cannot stand chess I still thought it was a cool gift simply because the device knew exactly when I was making a mistake which just so happened to be all the time

The poor Bed linen gift

Yes I received eco bed linen from my mad aunt and this is the strangest of all the items received as it isn’t even a crazy gift.

has Aunt lost the last part of her mind? The wait for Christmas is on and I cannot wait to see what I get from her this year. After all, most people have that crazy person who loves to give out wacky gifts every year right?

How about you – let me know in the comments what your weirdest christmas presents have been.

The climate and the economy may both be in difficult times at the moment but that is no reason as to why you can’t save on a bit of energy within your own household. Expert advice can not only help you beat the credit crunch but also try and help make the planet a much more eco friendly and greener place.
Some handy tips to implement around the household would include electing an ‘Energy Champion’. This person would make sure that all of the lights and power were turned off if the evening and at times where it is not needed. Secondly, you can change the connectors around the house to be low energy ones so they will also help with saving vital energy around the house. Turning down the thermostat in the house is always a good way to conserve energy, sometimes I found that my own family had the thermostat on even in the summer! There is absolutely no need, you can save so much power by just being aware of what power you are using in the first place. That is the most feasible solution.
One easy way of monitoring how much power your house is using is buying an ‘Owl’ meter. This will give you a constant reading of how much electricity you are using exactly, identifying exactly where your energy usage goes. Monitoring your household energy output can half your monthly bill say the manufactures so it is definitely worth the time.
Switching to an induction oven is another fantastic way to cut back on your electricity and power bills. Induction ovens dispense with the need to have gas burners on all day and are 93% efficient. This could play a massive part on cutting back your energy bill as you will no doubt be cooking and using the oven alot throughout the day. A good eye opener is to ask your energy bill supplier for a a detailed energy waste bill. This means that they can send you over all the power that your own household has used over the past six months in comparison to the national average.
One of the most common tools used to save on power are energy saving light bulbs. These are readily available from most stores around the country and will save you an absolute fortune in money. They are cheap and easy to install and will shave plenty off of your bill. These magical light bulbs save energy by reducing the amount of copper used in the solenoids in the bulb which will then save you hard earned cash.
