Golfing Gear
To start with, you will obviously need some golf equipment. The fundamental items are a golf club set, a golf bag, tees, and balls. However, you don’t really need to invest in these at first; you can rent them out from your local golf course. Although, if you are serious about learning golf, then buying a good golf clubs set, balls and a golf bag will improve your game.
When you take the decision to buy golf equipment you will see that there are hundreds of choices. The big name manufacturers of golf equipment spend millions of dollars each year trying to get you to buy their golf gear. Don’t spend thousands on golf clubs that might not be matched to your style of game.
Preferably, start off with a good golf clubs set that are designed with the golf beginner in mind. Sometimes, they are called game improving clubs and they are designed to be more forgiving to miss-hits. You can have them tailor made for your physical size and swing speed by customizing the clubs with the correct shaft type and flex.

Having your stuff organized and handy may not be the secret to better golf, but it definitely improves the golfer’s attitude. Especially if you travel with your clubs, it’s important to know that your gear is safe and sound, and that you’ve got a place for everything you need.
Travel Golf Bags and Covers
With lots of makes and features to choose from, you can find the right golf travel bag and cover for your needs. Whether you are just the basic Joe golfer who wants to make sure that your gears in a safe place or you are one of those golfers and let’s take a cooler along with him and store it in your bag, there are a lot of truly quality, and convenient golf travel bags on the market that will suit your needs perfectly.
Combos: The Easy Way
You can get the best of both worlds by choosing a combination golf travel bag/carrier combo: they are made to be about the same weight as a regular bag, plus they make traveling easier because you have less bulk to pack. You can order them with wheels which makes it easier to get around the airports, or over to your golf cart. They have many different designs that you can choose from including ones that are padded and reinforced with cloth to sleek metal designs. If you want the convenience of a single piece of luggage that switches easily to a highly functional bag on the course, the combo golf travel bag/carrier may be the right choice for you.
Golf Travel Bag with Cover: Familiarity Breeds Comfort
However, some golfers have their bags set up just the way they want them and see no reason to break everything out and re-pack for a trip. In that case, making use of a durable bag cover or case for your gear just make a lot of common sense. These are made in a simple and common sense way in that you can just put your travel bag inside of it, button it all down, and you’re ready to go. You can buy models that have wheels, as well as models that are uniquely designed to save space by featuring “hideaway” construction that will make it easier to find a place for when it’s not in use.
Consider Your Needs
If you don’t travel very much, in all reality it probably doesn’t make a lot of sense to spend a lot of money on travel case or a really nice golf travel bag. However, when you consider what you’ve invested in your clubs, shoes, and other gear (not to mention all those lessons, right?), you won’t want to skimp on protection for your investment. Take some time to look at all your options, consider how many times you’re going to use the bag, then from that point make your decision.

The golf swing, lower back, and injury are common phrases in the world golf. It is understood the golf swing places great amounts of stress on the lower back. This is simply a result of the mechanics of the golf swing itself. The execution of the golf swing places the lower back under immense shear forces each and every golf swing, and the muscles of the lower back must withstand these shear forces. Muscles of the body when under stress from physical activity eventually become fatigued. Once the lower back muscles are fatigued, supporting the stressors of the golf swing and executing the mechanics of the golf swing are compromised. Resulting in some very common situations for the golfer.
Again, we are all aware the lower back is one of the most oft injured areas of the body in the game of golf. Statistics indicate approximately 50% of all golfers will incur a lower back injury during their playing careers. This statistic tell us a great deal about the importance of keeping the lower back healthy in the game of golf. Outside of the lower back becoming injured from the golf swing.
The situation of performance on the golf course comes into play. Many times prior to injury occurring, a drop in performance will be noticed. This is a result of fatigue within the lower back not allowing the mechanics of the golf swing to be executed correctly.
On the PGA Tour keeping the lower back strong and injury free is a daily task. It is quite understandable how much time is spent on lower back injury prevention when the biomechanics of the golf swing are understood. The biomechanics of the golf swing place the lower back under large amounts of shear force/stress every time you swing a golf club.
Over time, this can easily cause injury if you do not take the correct steps. This leads me to e-mail I received a little while back from BioForce subscriber Bryan
He wrote in with a question about his lower back and here is what he had to say;
“Sean,
I am 54 years of age and a very keen golfer.
Lately I have been experiencing back pain, maybe because of to much golfing?
I need your kind experience to advise me on this subject so that I can enjoy golf
without any harm to my back.”
Thank You,
Bryan
First and foremost the reasons for lower back pain is numerous and is best identified by a qualified physician.
My first suggestion is to get the lower back checked out by a back specialists. This will determine what exactly is going on with the lower back and what is the best treatment.
Now Bryan brings up a very good point in his email. He discusses the possibility that his lower back discomfort is caused by playing too much golf. (you can never play enough golf!, well…maybe)
This absolutely could be the reason why his lower back is “tight” and “sore”.
Again, we know the lower back is placed under high amounts of stress every single swing of the golf club. Over time the muscles of the lower back can become fatigued from the golf swing. This will eventually lead to the muscles of the lower back “giving up” and becoming fatigued.
Once the muscles of the lower back are fatigued it is a very short step to injury. What is the process of eliminating this type of scenario happening?
It simply requires the development of muscular endurance in the lower back to withstand the stress of the golf swing. Bottom line the golf swing is a repetitive movement, requiring the body to perform the swing over and over again. In order for the muscles (lower back muscles included) involved in the golf swing to perform the repeatable movements of the golf swing over and over again in an efficient manner.
Muscular endurance is the ability of the neuromuscular system of the body to perform a repetitive biomechanical movement (i.e. golf swing) without becoming fatigued. How do you develop muscular endurance specific to the golf swing? By simply, implementing golf fitness exercises into a structured program.
In addition to the development of increased muscular endurance the efficiency of the golf swing mechanics may require adjustment. Efficiency within the mechanics of the golf swing can directly affect the amount of stress placed upon the lower back.
Additional research has indicated the shear forces placed upon the lower back of a professional golfer is significantly less than the amateur golfer. The reason for the difference is the mechanics of the golf swing performed by professionals is much more efficient, placing less stress on the lower back.
Stated previously, numerous reasons exist for the lower back to become injured. The mechanics of the golf swing and endurance with muscles of the lower back are only two of many possibilities. If the lower back is weak the shear forces placed upon it by the golf swing will eventually lead to fatigue. The development of higher levels of muscular endurance can counter act this situation. The utilization of golf fitness exercises is best in relation to the golf swing for this situation.
Additionally, the efficiency in which the mechanics of the golf swing are executed affects the back. A less efficient golf swing places higher levels of shear force upon the musculature of the lower back causing fatigue and possible injury. A comprehensive golf fitness program to develop higher levels of muscular endurance and the creation of a efficient golf swing golf through instruction may assist keeping your lower back injury free.

For golf nuts (and who playing the game isn’t?), a dreamlike time at golf vacation resorts is more and more a possibility these days. The notion of playing eighteen holes of golf on a world-class course, combined with a stay at an equally world-class hotel is an idea that can’t be topped. And as far as finding any fault with that notion, there just doesn’t seem to be any.
The beauty of a golf vacation resort is that there are many of them all over the world. The ancestral home of the game of golf, Scotland, offers a quality golfing experience on some of the most famous courses in the golfing world. An Ireland golf vacation could be a real treat! But for true high-class resorts and high-class golfing, there aren’t many better places to find them combined than in North America. Some of the resorts are paradises of golf and resort living, for a fact.
For those wanting to experience a true PGA atmosphere, and play golf on a frequent home of the U.S. Open, there’s nothing like one of the vacation destinations at Pebble Beach, on the Monterey Peninsula. Pebble Beach Golf Links boasts 7 courses and is the number one-ranked set of public courses in the United States.
Lodgings at any of these golf vacation resorts can be first-rate, also. For example, the golf resort at Pinehurst, in North Carolina, was the winner of the 2008 Best Golf Resort award from Travel and Leisure magazine. A resort like this will combine a magnificent course with one or several on-site luxury hotels that cater to every need. Truly, some of these resort hotels are four-star in every respect.
Golf vacation resorts as a real getaway is a vacation idea that’s really hard to top. They combine the best of golf and golfing activities with the best of hotel and resort living into one beautiful package. Most avid golf enthusiasts pine for a chance to play on some of the major-league, PGA-certified courses at many of these resorts, and now they finally have an opportunity to do so.
Golf vacation packages can easily be found and booked online, although most places offer a book-by-phone option for peace of mind. So, what are you waiting for? Go have the golf vacation of a lifetime!

That was using a 43.5 inch steel-shafted, wood-headed driver! So obviously, the golf equipment doesn’t have that much to do with how far you can drive the ball. Though, today’s long drive champions use 2X or 3X, extra stiff shafts that are up to 50 inches, and driver lofts that are as low as 5 or 6 degrees.

Mastering your driver golf swing is important if you want to play good golf especially if your planning a golf travel package. Unless you have this skill, you can not make the most of your game of golf. Perhaps you already have this skill.
This does not mean that you will not be able to play the game, but a great driver golf swing can take you miles ahead in performance as well as improving your putting skills. Improving your power is not that important as improving your form and distance when you want to work on this area.
Keys to improving swing: good posture, shoes and alignment with the ball. What can an incorrect posture do to your game? It can make you twist at an inappropriate moment which ultimately does not allow you to grasp the club correctly.
Your attempts at making a good driver golf swing can be jeopardized when all these things combine. Your first line of defense is to always ensure you have the right stance, which will allow you to quickly and easily perform the appropriate follow through for your swing.
One of the ways you can correct your posture is to take a snapshot of yourself or ask someone to take a shot. Compare the way you are standing with the standard correct posture and you would know. Take a lesson on how to correct postures if this option is not suitable.
Building your skills upon a good set of foundation skills is necessary in order to ensure that you are learning the right skills as you need them. If you have the ability to work with a golf instructor this is going to be the best way since they can be much more honest with you about the flaws in your stance than you will be with yourself.
When you are sure that you have the right posture, look into the areas of problems with your grip. You could end up with a poor backhand right from the start if you overextend your grip or hold the club the wrong way. To get a good driver golf swing it is imperative that you have a good grip of the club. To get it perfect, you would surely go on trying. But it would only frustrate your further as it is nearly impossible to attain. A small shift in the position of your hands could completely change the picture.
Before you lift the golf club driver from the ground simply pull it away from the ball. This is important if you want to improve your driver golf swing. Lifting and pulling the club at the same is a common mistake made by most players. Not only does it jeopardize the game but it results in an off-center hit also. Ensure that you are pulling the club straight back before you start lifting it up and you would notice an almost instant improvement. Surely this not asking for too much. Your driver golf swing would improve drastically if you make that extra effort to pull the club before lifting.
Over the last few years there has been a huge decline in younger people playing golf. what is the reason on why this is all going on? It certainly isn’t down to kids not wanting to use the electric golf trolleys.
The real reason is that kids really don’t want to play a sport that one of their parents plays. As well as this, golf really isn’t very popular for any child in school as the dress code for golf makes anyone look absolutely ridiculous. I remember when i was at school which wasn't too long ago that the people who played sports like golf were only friends with the other ones that played golf which I always felt was wrong.
I do not understand why people see golf as a old mans sport and not like all the other major sports like football and rugby. Golf itself is a high profile sport its just no one of a young age is that interested. In a way this is not true as I know a young boy who loves the game and enjoys playing it every Saturday morning when he is not at school. The only problem is ge wishes to play football and go to gardening club rather than play golf. I just do not see how gardening could be better than playing golf? Is it that children find the game boring and a bit strange? I have never really gotten on with any sport so it is not just golf I do not like which means I am certainly not biased against the sport.
Golf would far more benefit children than a lot of the sports out there purely as it has standards. The great thing about golf is that it would actually help any child who liked the sport as unlike other sports the majority of people who play it don't swear or behave like a complete idiot. Golf itself only pays out to the players who play in the tournaments so I can see how could be see to deter people who want to earn the money every week like the footballers but in my honest opinion it takes a lot more skill to play golf than it does football.
So charge up those golf batteries kids and get playing!
