There are some people who simply cannot live without the latest technology. They know everything about that, always must have the newest gadget, and keep them dearly at home or office. This hobby could be a useful one, but it surely is expensive. I reckon I am one of these crazy people, but I have to concentrate on just a few areas, as I don’t have unlimited financial resources.
People who are crazy about gadgets will have no limits in spending money on their hobby. It’s useless telling them they have everything they need. Sadly, once a year it is their birthday. This can dismay everybody, can’t it?
Long before that scary day, you have to pay them lots of visits, observe carefully, and even take photographs, so that you could find out what the perfect birthday gift might be, and not buy them something they already acquired. My passion is reading. I’ve loved doing this ever since I was a little boy, and still do, at my age. The local library was one of my favorite places thanks to its peaceful atmoshpere that allowed me to read in peace, and the fact that it had such a large collection of books to choose from. Unfortunately, nothing good ever lasts, and the library was closed due to lack of funds, and no plans have been made to open another one.
Of course I had no choice in the matter, so I waved goodbye to the library and started looking for another place in which I could read in peace. The park looked like a good enough place, and I found a more secluded spot that seemed perfect. People stayed on the regular paths and didn’t seem to come here, so I decided it was perfect and looked forward to coming back the next day, with a good book.
It was in fact too good to be true, as I discovered the next day. The place was filled with kids running around playing and making reading impossible. Since I liked the spot so much, and so did the children, I decided to look for something to reduce the noise to the minimum and allow me to concentrate on my books.
Because I like listening to music almost as much as reading, I decided to get one of those small, portable mp3 players I’ve heard so much about. I read a Sansa e280 review and ended up getting that little mp3 player. I love it! It’s so small it fits into my pocket easily, and allows me to read without having to listen to the children playing around me.
I’ve grown so attached to it that I started leaving my books at home, when going to my “reading” place. I’ve gooten really used to just sitting there looking at the children and listening to music. I would have never thought it possible: me, without my books?
Everybody knows that spending time in front of the computer can damage your vision, but I seem to defy that rule, and spend 10 hours a day in front of it, without any side effects. Also, I’m not like those who have started wearing glasses after one or two years working behind a monitor, as I’m quickly approaching 10 years of use, and my vision remains excellent.
Since I was so proud of my perfect eye sight, I used to test it whenever I had the chance. I would either try to read the license plate of fast moving cars, or small texts, from far away. My friends, on the other hand, started warning me that my vision is bound to suffer, if I keep this up and not spend less time in front of the computer.
Since my parents, who agreed with my friends, were pestering me to take up a sport, I decided to please them and try jogging. A quick search online revealed the best equipment to buy, and the best time of the day to start jogging. After learning everything I needed to know, I was all set.

Currently I still spend a lot of time in front of my PC, but I’ve also allocated a lot of time to jogging and other sports. My physical condition has improved drastically and I’m very happy my family and friends pushed me down this path. I like knowing that while I can still have all kinds of fun doing computer activities, I’m not wasting my health doing it. There’s a fantastic feeling knowing that!

When I say nothing, I mean nothing. My favorite CDs were totally and completely scratched by that cat to death, I had to buy something to put over my couch because it was getting destroyed and I always had to make sure it had something to eat. One of the things my kitty ruined, and I felt most sorry about, was my iriver clix 2 gb . I found it all chewed up and mangled, in a corner. My girlfriend thought it was really funny, but was one of the best mp3 players I’ve ever had. Since I was seriously considering giving the kitty away, she bought me a new one, to make sure I didn’t.
I now know better, and keep all my important things inside a locked desk. If something else is scratched, it’s my fault for leaving it outside. My kitty now has full reign of the house, and thinks everything is good for eating, scratching, or chewing. What a bothersome, but very sweet, pet!
Choosing birthday presents has become quite a difficult task, in this age of technology and gadgets, that your young ones are so interested in. Visiting different electronic stores will only leave you confused. Picking something that looks interesting to you, might not be the best idea, since they could already have it or something better.
Asking the salesman is probably not the best of ideas either, since you can choose the most expensive item that they’re going to suggest anyway, without their help. Barack Obama does yet another stunt when he decides to visit the England Queen and give her an IPod as a…sign of appreciation. We all know that Obama is a self-conscious man that doesn’t care about conservatory opinions and wants to be as unconventional as possible, because this is what won him the elections, but giving an ipod during an official meeting with the Queen seemed like a totally inappropriate gesture for American press writers. The materials on the ipod were nice though, containing also some footage of her visiting the USA two years ago.
Officials in the White house claim that Obama made another gift for the Queen, which consist in a rare audio book of Richard Rodgers. He received a gift from the Queen as well, but sadly it was nothing special, just a plain photo of her and Prince Philip, framed and signed, the usual gift she gives to all foreign presidents and officials that visit the palace.
Because the American president really tried hard to provide a special and priceless gift to the Queen, and he got in return just a simple photo, he must’ve felt pretty bad. Still, he remained happy-looking and no one suspected anything about the uncomfortable situation.
The American press claims this is the second inappropriate present Obama gives. A few weeks ago he gave to another Britain official, Gordon Brown, a set of 25 classic movies on DVD. Nice present, but too bad they were only fit for American video systems and don’t really work well on European players. Let’s only hope that Obama remembered to include an ipod mini battery , so that the Queen doesn’t have to go out and buy one herself if she wants to listen to anything on the device.
Obama was not the first person in the world to get the Queen an ipod. Sources say that she has one already, also received as a gift in an official meeting, full of classical tunes she like so much. Even if the situation at this official meeting was a bit odd and many newspapers commented on it, it looks like both the Queen and Obama were having a wonderful time.
