But is a hot tub or a Jacuzzi a safer proposition to use than a hot tub when you are pregnant?

Is a hot tub or a Jacuzzi a safer proposition to use than a hot tub when you are pregnant?

It seems that the reason behind the recommendation against using hot tubs is to do with body temperature.

A high body temperature in early pregnancy can increase the risk of neural tube defects (abnormalities in the development of the brain or spine of the baby). This applies to people who have a fever when pregnant.

A prolonged and high fever can sometimes lead to problems and sometimes miscarriage in pregnancy.

There is some evidence however that using hot tubs in early pregnancy could increase the risk of miscarrying in addition to neural tube defects. There could be more health issues with the baby.

Due to this known link with neural tube defects it is recommended by doctors that women should avoid raising their body temperature above 101 degrees Fahrenheit. A hot tub can raise your temperature drastically by being in there not long.

A lot of people like to use different temperatures of the hot tub, but to be safe; you should keep at a healthy heat and not overdo it. If you raise the temperature to a very high level, your skin can end up being damaged and potentially burnt. The general temperature that should be reserved is around 90-100 degrees.

Therefore the consensus of opinion is better to be safe than sorry and avoid using a hot tub during pregnancy.

The Spa industry enjoyed a healthy twenty five percent annual growth from 2002 until 2008, when expansion fell to just 6% on domestic political turmoil and the world travel downturn. The Thai Spas Association president Andrew Jacka said spa operators around the world needed to focus far more on Thai customers as relying on foreign tourists is a weakness in the current situation.
Spa vouchers have recently become far more popular in western society and have really helped revolutionise the industry. In Thailand foreign tourists might go to a spa five to ten times during the two to three week period they stay in Thailand however that could only ever happen once a year and that is it. Thailand’s spa industry currently employs about fifty thousand people, the world’s seventh highest national workforce in the sector. It ranks 18th globally in terms of revenue which is a staggering figure to comprehend.
In Europe the Spa industry has never been so healthy, people are more than happy to treat themselves in these depressing economic times, people need that escape factor and a spa can offer that. Unfortunately, things are not really as cheap as they are in Bangkok, Thailand. Because of the recent airport scares in Thailand many tourists have been put off to come into the country which has led the spa industry to rely on heavy discounts and offering BOGOF deals. Once tourists start flocking back into the country these deals will eventually wear off however for now, the economy is being hit hard by one of its most flourishing industry’s suffering badly.
The spa industry needs to establish itself more as an online presence in order to maximise profit and simply advertising from your shop window is not enough anymore. People want to be able to see the products you have to offer at your spa on the web where is more convenient.

If you have been lucky in life and been able to buy your own swimming pool, spa or hot tub. You will know that having a filter system in your pool is very important.

Due to the importance of having a filter system in your swimming pool. You should always make sure that it is working, if your filter system breaks down without you knowing, your pool could soon become deadly.

The first sign that your filter has stopped working is that dirt will begin to collect at the bottom of the pool, this is because the pool is not being cleaned by the filter, maybe not dangerous or life threatening, but certainly not fun to swim in.

The biggest reason why your filter system should always stay active is to circulate the swimming pool chemicals, such as chlorine. If your filter system stops working, the chemicals within your pool can stop circulating, this means that they can collect in the pool, making it cloudy to view. However, cloudy water wouldn't be your only worry, because the amount of chlorine has risen, it becomes very dangerous and potentially deadly.

Because chlorine is designed to kill bacteria, if it's in high concentration, it can become poisonous and can damage your skin.

So keeping your pool filter working can be life saving, however, if you have a pool filter or are going to get one, make sure that you have a drain on it. If you don't then this can prove to be a hazard. If a child or an adult gets sucked into the filter, it can seriously injure or even tear someone apart due to the force of the filter.

These are just a couple of tips that you should follow to ensure that your pool is safe and clean to use.

The recession has bought around some pretty dingy looking financial forecasts for many businesses up and down the country however there may be one ray of light that is helping people through this difficult time. Valentine’s Day has caused a much needed boost on the high street and spas, florists and card shops are reaping the rewards. Loved ones are going there and buying their partners all sorts of romantic gifts from spa gift vouchers to a massive bunch of flowers. The national retail section of the UK forecast that people will spend anything from £5 to £100 on a Valentine’s Day gift per person which is really starting to put dollar signs in business owner’s eyes.
It is about time that the country had a bit of luck in respect to people flocking back onto the streets. From a financial point of view shops are in desperate need of people loosening their purse strings a little and going out and spending. Cupid must not have heard about the recession, orders are still pouring into local florists from around the country. People want a dozen roses for their loved one or a bunch of red tulips for their loved one and demand is extremely high! For one small shop in a tiny town called Shropshire, they have already ordered 3,000 roses to cater for people’s orders and they are about to order another 3,000 to cope with the work load.
Finally, a bit of good news in the retail sector! Considering that a lot of people wait until the last minute to give a gift a lot of the retail sector will still be expecting sales right up until the day itself – knowing most men out there!
Most business from around the country is waiting until the 14th when they believe most men will be making their orders. Personally, I think Valentine’s Day is a little bit over rated. After all, it is just a silly American invention but we all seem to follow it religiously every year.
